The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), of 1976, gave the USEPA power regulate and monitor waste materials. This program is regulated by the US EPA’s Office of Solid Waste (OSW). As part of the RCRA program, analysis of wastes, waters and solid materials are commonly performed. Methods for these tasks are held in a compendium called SW-846.
Approved methods for this are ICP method 6010B, the ICP-MS methods 6020, from SW-846 update II and method 6020A, from update IVA.
See http://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/osw/laws-reg.htm for more information on RCRA and http://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/hazwaste/test/main.htm#table for information on the SW-846 methods compendium.
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s innovative new iCAP 6000 Series ICP is ideal for this type of analysis and will perform it with lower detection limits and faster analysis times than any other ICP emission spectrometer on the market. See our method 6010B application note for further details. Alternatively, for lower detection limits or in cleaner samples, the XSeriesII ICP-MS is the perfect fit. See our method 6020A application notef or further details. Our 6020 Productivity Packs will also get you running productively by providing all required methods, SOPs and standards.
